Local 830 members staff 5 firehouses in the historic City of Norwalk, Connecticut and provide services to our citizens including fire suppression, EMS, technical rescue, hazardous materials expertise as well as maritime fire protection. 2 Norwalk Professional Firefighters Honored for Rescues Made at House Fire in 2024

On October 21st, NFD Local 830 members Capt Mark Franzen and FF Colin Curran were honored at the Connecticut Exchange Club’s 2025 Firefighter of the Year Awards. Both members were recognized for their heroic actions that involved them rescuing occupants from a house fire on Forbell Drive in 2024 while operating with Truck Co. 1. A well deserved award! Quick Response Limits Damage at South Norwalk Apartment Fire

On October 21st, the City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported kitchen fire at 100 San Vincenzo Place in the South Norwalk section of the City at 11:37 a.m. The initial call stated the kitchen was on fire and the occupant of the apartment was exiting the building.

The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3:48 am at #44 East Ave in the “Norwalk Green” section of the City on Tuesday, October 14th.

On Saturday, October 11th the City of Norwalk Fire Department hosted a mutual-aid water supply drill.
Within the City of Norwalk are several areas that are considered “Tanker Boxes” which are pre determined special alarm assignments for areas of the City with water supply concerns.

At approximately 11:12pm on Thursday October 9th.The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported MVA on Interstate 95 North between exits 16 and 17 with initial reports of an MVA involving a pickup truck vs a tractor trailer.

On Saturday, October 4th at 05:19AM. Norwalk Professional Firefighters responded to a single car MVA with heavy entrapment of the sole occupant.
