The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported kitchen fire at 261 Ely Ave, Building 17. Engine Co. 5 observed smoke showing from several 3rd floor windows in the front of the building upon arrival.
A handline was stretched to the fire apartment for extinguishment, while the building was searched, laddered, and horizontal ventilation was performed.
Fire crews contained the fire to kitchen area. The apartment suffered heavy smoke damage throughout. Currently, 3 occupants are displaced by the fire. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
