| On Saturday, October 11th the City of Norwalk Fire Department hosted a mutual-aid water supply drill.
Within the City of Norwalk are several areas that are considered “Tanker Boxes” which are pre determined special alarm assignments for areas of the City with water supply concerns.
Since the City of Norwalk Fire Department does not have their own “Tanker” to provide a positive water supply for initial fire suppression operations at fires when the structure is over 1,000 ft. from a fire hydrant, or in areas where water volume is low or compromised. The NFD relies on inter-agency mutual aid agreements for these services, most notably the “Tanker Task Force” from the City of Stamford FD.
A multi agency drill was conducted involving both career and volunteer personnel and equipment from the City of Stamford FD Local 786, Turn of River VFD (Stamford), Long Ridge VFD (Stamford), Town of New Canaan FD Local 3324, Darien VFD , Noroton Heights VFD, Weston VFD, Town of Wilton FD Local 2233, Town of Greenwich FD Local 1042, and Rowayton VFD.
NFD would like to thank our neighbors for coming to our City and participating in this worthwhile exercise.
