Early Morning Fatal MVA with Entrapment in East Norwalk

At 02:14hrs, City of Norwalk Firefighters were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East Avenue & Van Zant St on the "East Side" of the City.

As Engine Co. 3, Rescue Co. 2 and Car 2 (Shift Commander) were en-route. The assignment was upgraded to an entrapment by NPD. Engine Co. 3 arrived to find a sedan into the stone wall of the East Norwalk Historical Cemetery.

Norwalk Professional Firefighters from Engine Co.3 assisted Norwalk EMS personnel with patient care in the vehicle while the crew from Rescue Co. 2 utilized eDraulic extrication equipment to free the trapped occupant. The occupant was transferred to Norwalk Hospital EMS with NFD Local 830 firefighters providing a driver and an additional member to assist the EMS crew in the back of the ambulance, the patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital and sadly later died from their injuries.

The scene was turned over to the City of Norwalk Police for further investigation.
