The first real taste of summer challenged Norwalk Professional Firefighters from Platoon 3 as they responded to over 50 calls for service during the 24hour period on Tuesday, June 24th including a house fire in the Broad River Section of the City at 11:40am.

The full assignment for box 1422 was dispatched to 8 Godfrey St for a reported fire on the second floor and attic.

Rescue Co. 2 and Engine Co. 1 arrived to find a 2.5 story multi family house with smoke and fire showing from a top floor window.

The fire was contained and extinguished in 30 minutes by a 1st alarm assignment consisting of 3 Engine Companies, 2 Truck Companies, 1 Rescue Company, and the Shift Commander; with 26 Norwalk Professional Firefighters operating on scene.

The top floor unit suffered heavy smoke and fire damage with additional smoke damage throughout the structure. 4 families are being relocated by Red Cross.
