| ***PRESS RELEASE *** CONTACT: Assistant Chief Edward McCabe Deputy Chief Michael McCallum BUILDING FIRE 23-0006804 55 North Water Street Saturday, February 4, 2023 2:45 PM The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:45 PM The fire was located at 55 North Water Street in a 5 story apartment building. The initial call was for an activated fire alarm and sprinkler system. Upon arrival, Truck 2 encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from a 4th floor apartment. The fire was extinguished in 15 minutes by a 1st alarm assignment consisting of 3 Engines, 2 Trucks, and 1 Rescue; totaling 25 personnel. The sprinkler system prevented the fire from spreading beyond the apartment of origin. Engine 2 deployed a high-rise hose set-up and utilized the buildings standpipe system to extinguish the fire. Currently, there are 2 occupants displaced by this blaze. There were no reported injuries to firefighters. There were no reported injuries to civilians. One pet was safely removed from the fire apartment by Truck 2. The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire. |
