Overview:

The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 10:45 am.

The fire was located at 48 Westport Ave in a 2 story commercial building. Initial reports stated fire and smoke coming from the roof.

Upon arrival, Car 2 encountered heavy smoke coming from the roof of the structure in the center of the building. The fire was extinguished in 30 minutes by a 2nd alarm assignment consisting of 4 Engines, 2 Ladder Trucks, 1 Rescue Truck, and a Command vehicle totaling 29 personnel.

The fire appeared to have started in the stove area in one a Chinese restaurant, and made its way up the vent work to the roof. 2 handlines were used to extinguish the fire. 1 line went into the building; 1 line went to the roof. Both truck companies were used to conduct vertical ventilation. R2 conducted the primary search of the fire building. E1 stretched the attack line to the fire. E3 laid in.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters as well as no reported injuries to civilians. The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
