On Sunday, May 21st at 23:06hrs the full assignment was dispatched for a reported house fire on Kreiner Lane in the Silvermine section of the City.

Engine Companies 1, 2, and 4 as RIT, Truck Companies 1 and 2, Rescue Co. 2, and Car 2 (Shift Commander) with 25 Norwalk Professional Firefighters responded on the run.

Engine Co. 1 and Truck Co. 1 arrived to find a heavy volume of fire showing from an attached garage and the basement division of a split level ranch.

Due to the quick response of NFD Local 830 members and the aggressive interior attack performed by first arriving companies on a well involved vehicle fire in an attached garage, the fire was extinguished in approximately 20 minutes and contained to the basement level of the residence, preventing any further extension into the 1st floor or attic space.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians, one family has been displaced and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal’s Division.

While multiple companies operated on at the fire scene. Engine Co. 3 and Engine Co. 5 covered the rest of the City.

This now brings our total to 6 working fires for Norwalk Professional Firefighters during the month of May.
