On Monday, January 5, 2026 at 3:38 AM, City of Norwalk Local 830 Firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire with the initial call reporting fire in the first-floor furnace room.

Engine Co. 5 arrived first due to the 3 story-multi family home at 103 Woodward Ave in the “South Norwalk” section of the City.

Upon entry, NFD firefighters found fire extending through the walls and staircase on first floor to the second floor. NFD Companies quickly extinguished the fire on the first floor and further stopped the spread of fire to
the second floor. All occupants safely evacuated on their own. One cat was found and safely removed by NFD Local 830 firefighters.

The fire was extinguished in 25 minutes by a 1st alarm assignment consisting of 3 Engines, 2 Trucks, and 1 Rescue, and the Shift Commander; totaling 26 Norwalk Professional Firefighters.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The Norwalk Fire Marshal’s Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
