Norwalk Professional Firefighters Rescue Family Dog From Silk St House Fire |

| At 4:45pm on December 26th, just before significant snow began falling. NFD Local 830 firefighters responded to a reported house fire on Silk St in the “Spring Hill” section of the City. NFD Companies from Station 1 (Broad River), Station 2 (Central), & Station 4 (Westport Ave) quickly arrived to the corrected address of 18 Silk St and located fire showing from the basement level and attached garage of the 1.5 story private dwelling with fire extending to the first floor. Norwalk Professional Firefighters from Engine Companies 1 & 2 stretched 2 hose lines to confine and extinguish the fire while members from Truck Co. 1, Truck Co. 2 & Rescue Co. 2 Simultaneously performed horizontal ventilation and searched the house, quickly locating a dog that was brought outside and transported to a local vet for treatment and is expected to recover. The fire was extinguished by a 1st Alarm Assignment consisting of 26 Norwalk Professional Firefighters. No injuries were reported. The Norwalk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. |
