Sunday Afternoon House Fire on Silvermine Ave

Norwalk Professional Firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 57 Silvermine Avenue on Sunday, May 7th at 1:49 PM as the Norwalk Combined 911 Center was receiving calls reporting flames from a house.

Engine Co. 1 and Truck Co. 1 arrived to find fire showing from the rear of a 2.5 story duplex style multiple dwelling.

Fire was located in the rear of the duplex extending up to the 1st and 2nd floors along the exterior of the structure. The majority of the fire was contained to the exterior of the house and the void spaces were opened up to check for further fire extension into the structure. The main body of fire was knocked down in 15 minutes with a 1st alarm assignment that consisted of 3 Engine Companies, 2 Truck Companies, 1 Heavy Rescue Company, and the Shift Commander totaling 25 NFD Local 830 members.

During the course of operations 4 pets were safely removed by NFD Members. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The Norwalk Fire Marshals Division is investigating the cause of the fire.

Engine Companies 3 and 5 were relocated to Stations 4 and 2 to cover any additional calls in the city.
