Christmas Day House Fire on Bettswood Rd

At 1:56pm on Christmas Day, City of Norwalk Professional Firefighters responded to a structure fire. The fire was located at #36 Bettswood Rd in the “Norwalk Green” section of the City with initial reports of a fire in the living room next to a fireplace.

Engine Co. 4 quickly arrived on scene transmitting they had visible fire showing out of 2 windows on the first floor of a 2 story residence. An attack line was stretched to contain and extinguish the fire, confining it to the living room area while preventing further extension.  Primary searches were conducted along with horizontal ventilation to ventilate the structure.  All searches were negative. Due to the quickly response and coordinated aggressive fire attack from 26 NFD Local 830 Firefighters on scene. The fire was held to the room of origin.
 
Currently, there are 6 occupants displaced and receiving assistance from The American Red Cross. There were no reported injuries. The Norwalk Fire Marshal’s Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
