City of Norwalk Professional Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 6:49 pm.

The fire was located at #6 Wilton Ave. in a 2-story vacant warehouse. Upon arrival of Engine Co. 1, smoke was observed coming from the second floor of the building. As the rest of the assignment arrived on scene, E-1 & T-2 forced entry and it was determined there was some type of electrical fire with a large amount of arcing coming from inside the building. A decision was made to not allow firefighters to enter the building until the electric company arrived to secure the power. In the meantime, a fire department connection was supplied allowing the department to charge the sprinkler system and flow water onto the fire until the power was secured. Upon arrival of the electric company the power was shut off, hose lines were stretched to extinguish the remaining fire, with exterior crews from both Truck Co 1 & Truck Co. 2 performing both vertical and horizontal ventilation.

The fire was extinguished with a 1st alarm assignment consisting of 3 Engine Companies, 2 Truck Companies, 1 Rescue Company, and Shift Commander with 26 NFD Local 830 Firefighters that were assisted on scene by multiple command staff and support personnel.

Due to multiple calls for service occurring simultaneously throughout the City and all NFD companies being committed to multiple incidents. Mutual Aid from the Town of New Canaan FD was requested for station coverage.

The fire required extensive overhaul. The last companies cleared the scene at approximately 10:15 pm. There were no reported injuries. The Norwalk Fire Marshal's Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
